Looking Back: 2023 Seafarers Program – Departure to Greece
The journey of 10 young men to becoming skilled representatives of the Nigerian maritime workforce started here. The beneficiaries of the 2023 Seafarers Program departed for the Metropolitan College Maritime Academy in Greece on the 19th of October 2023.

The beneficiaries were accompanied by their parents and lecturers as they shared their well wishes, together with representatives of the Nigerian Merchant Navy Officers Union and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency. The cadets were urged by their lecturers, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency and the officers’ union to bear in mind that they not only represent the Foundation but the country at large as future representatives of the indigenous maritime workforce.
The cadets were welcomed to Athens, Greece by a representative from the UML Greece office. The Foundation intends to provide its beneficiaries with the necessary attention and resources to foster their study while in Greece.
The Foundation will be keeping tabs on the 2023 beneficiaries at the Metropolitan College Maritime Academy with the help of designated representatives from the Union Maritime Limited office in Athens, Greece.
